Boitata


This faerie is a huge flaming snake. The back has many scales that open and close, revealing a hundred eyes that see everything and everyone. Boitatas appear to protect fairy groves and sanctuaries against fires, hunting and devouring the ones responsible.

  • Fire Aura. At the start of each of the boitatá's turns, each creature within 5 feet of it takes 10 (3d6) fire damage, and flammable objects in the aura that aren't being worn or carried ignite. A creature that touches the boitatá or hits it with a melee attack while within 5 feet of it takes 10 (3d6) fire damage. 
  • Magic Resistance. The boitatá has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects. 
  • Magic Weapons. The boitatá's weapon attacks are magical.  
  • Illumination. The boitatá sheds bright light in a 30-foot radius and dim light in an additional 30 feet.

ACTIONS

  1. Multiattack. The boitatá makes one constrict attack and one bite attack.
  2. Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10 ft., one creature. Hit: 16 (2d10 + 5) piercing damage.
  3. Constrict. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 21 (3d12 + 5) bludgeoning damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 16). Until this grapple ends, the creature is restrained, and the boitatá can't constrict another target. 
  4. Touch. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (3d6) fire damage. If the target is a creature or a flammable object, it ignites. Until a creature takes an action to douse the fire, the target takes 5 (1d10) fire damage at the start of each of its turns.
